MISA launches Platinum and Golden Media Awards

The Awards recognize and celebrate excellence within Zambia's media industry

MISA Zambia this morning launched its 22nd edition of the Platinum and Golden Media Awards. The launch event, which took place at MISA House drew journalists and various MISA Zambia partners including the European Union, USAID Local Impact Governance, and Panos Institute Southern Africa (PSAF). Other partners include Buy Local Campaign, Otrida Kapona in her capacity, Ideaholic, Platinum Media, Kalemba, Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), and Non-Governmental Gender Coordinating Council (NGOCC).

During the launch, MISA Zambia Board Chairperson Mrs. Lorraine Mwanza Chisanga highlighted the Awards’ role in recognizing and celebrating excellence within Zambia’s media industry. She underscored the transformative power of journalists and media professionals in driving change and development through compelling storytelling.

Mrs. Mwanza highlighted how the awards honor the dedication of journalists, editors, photographers, producers, and everyone working behind the scenes to inform, educate, and entertain the public.

And MISA Zambia National Director Mr. Austin Kayanda reiterated the organization’s commitment to promoting media excellence, freedom of expression, media development, and professional journalism. He encouraged journalists from both private and public sectors, as well as non-journalists, to participate in the various award categories.

This year’s media awards categories sponsored by MISA Zambia are as follows:

  2. Golden Award Commercial Radio
  3. Golden Award Community Radio
  4. Golden Award Print
  5. Golden Award Online
  6. The Platinum Award or Media Freedom Award – Standing Out as the Highest Award that MISA Zambia Presents.

  2. Best Mental Health Champion – Sponsored by Totum Solutions Limited
  3. Outstanding reporting on buy local campaign Award – Sponsored by Buyzed Campaign

The 22nd Platinum and Golden Media Awards entries are now officially open and MISA Zambia is inviting submissions that showcase outstanding contributions to Zambia’s media landscape.
