MISA Zambia launches Media Legal Help Desk In 3 Provinces

5 Mar, 2026
The legal help desk seeks to prevent journalists from falling into legal pitfalls as they write and publish their stories.

MISA Zambia, in collaboration with the Press Clubs in Southern, Northern and Northwestern provinces, successfully launched the Media Legal Help Desk

The help desk, launched between the 25th of February and the 5th of March, is an important initiative that seeks to raise awareness among journalists, media practitioners, and media houses about the availability of legal support and advisory services through the Media Legal Help Desk.

Through the Help Desk, journalists will receive information on:

  • How to access legal assistance
  • Guidance on media law compliance
  • Support in cases involving threats, harassment, defamation, arrests, and other violations related to their professional duties.

The Media Legal Help Desk provides both preventive legal guidance and rapid-response support to ensure that journalists carry out their work confidently, professionally, and within the law.

All media practitioners are encouraged to participate and take advantage of this vital service.
