MISA conducts ATI Training for scribes in C/Belt & Southern Provinces

12 Feb, 2026
Despite the ATI Act being in force, many media practitioners continue to face challenges in navigating its procedures

MISA Zambia was on the Copperbelt and Southern Provinces, conducting the Access to Information (ATI) trainings aimed at strengthening journalists’ capacity to effectively use the ATI Law. The training on the Copperbelt was conducted in Ndola from 2-4 February 2026 while the one in Southern Province was undertaken from 10-12 February 2026 in Choma.

The trainings equipped participants with practical skills on how to request public information, understand the legal framework of the ATI Act, identify information officers, correctly complete request forms, and recognise information that may be restricted.

Despite the ATI Act being in force, many media practitioners continue to face challenges in navigating its procedures.

The trainings address these gaps through step-by-step guidance, ensuring that journalists can confidently exercise their right to access information.

By enhancing knowledge and capacity, MISA Zambia continues to empower journalists to promote transparency, accountability, and informed public discourse.
