MISA Zambia Congratulates Emelda Musonda on her appointment as acting Zambia Daily Mail Managing Director

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LUSAKA – MISA Zambia wishes to warmly congratulate Ms. Emelda Musonda on her appointment as Managing Director of the Zambia Daily Mail (ZDM).

Ms. Musonda takes over from Mr. Simate Simate, who served as Managing Director until 30th January, following a mutual separation.

The Zambia Daily Mail Board of Directors has announced that Ms. Musonda will serve in an acting capacity for administrative convenience until further notice.

Prior to her appointment, Ms. Musonda served as Managing Editor, a position in which she demonstrated strong leadership, editorial excellence, and commitment to professional journalism.

She brings to the role a solid academic and professional background, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Zambia, in addition to other professional qualifications in media and law.

MISA Zambia is particularly encouraged by this appointment as it reflects growing confidence and trust in women’s leadership within senior decision-making positions.

The elevation of more women into top managerial roles is a positive step towards inclusive governance and meaningful participation in key national institutions, including the media sector.

MISA Zambia has no doubt that Ms. Musonda’s experience, professionalism, and leadership will significantly contribute to the advancement of media freedom, ethical journalism, and the welfare of media practitioners in Zambia.
