The event, held under the theme “Empowering Future Generations Through Access to Information (ATI),” brought together key stakeholders from across the country to recognize journalistic excellence and highlight the critical role of media in advancing transparency, good governance and freedom of expression.

The ceremony commenced with opening remarks from MISA Zambia Board Chairperson, Mrs. Lorraine Mwanza Chisanga, who expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering support of sponsors and partners who made the event possible. She emphasized the need for sustained collaboration to further the cause of press freedom, which remains central to MISA’s mission.

The event was graced by Mr. Justice Arnold Chilimi, who served as Guest of Honour. In his keynote address, Justice Chilimi underscored the essential role of access to information in shaping Zambia’s future. He called for a renewed national commitment to fostering an environment where transparency, openness, and dialogue are not only encouraged but institutionalized.

Justice Chilimi further applauded MISA Zambia for its relentless advocacy and congratulated the evening’s award recipients, praising their dedication to advancing the profession and upholding the values of press freedom.

The ceremony saw the recognition of over 30 journalists, with one platinum award, five golden awards, and more than 15 sponsored awards handed out.
