MISA Zambia has conducted a two-day training session aimed at sensitizing female editors, journalists, and media trainers on gender issues.

The workshop focused on increasing female participation in reporting on critical issues, particularly corruption, which remains a significant concern in Zambia.

The training sought to enhance the capacity of female journalists to effectively tackle challenging topics like corruption, thereby fostering more comprehensive and inclusive media coverage.

Lorraine Mwanza Chisanga, MISA Zambia Board Chairperson, encouraged participants to engage with hard-hitting news topics, emphasizing that corruption undermines the fabric of society, affecting every citizen’s quality of life and trust in public institutions.

Internews Network Zambia Programmes Manager, Meck Phiri, highlighted that investing in training for female journalists not only enhances journalism in the country but also promotes gender equity and recognition. The initiative was supported by the USAID Open Spaces Zambia Project.
