Death of Ronny Shikapwasha saddens MISA

LUSAKA – MISA Zambia has learnt with deep sadness and regret the death of Lieutenant General Ronny Shikapwasha who passed away at Maina Soko Military Hospital on 15th January 2024.
He will be remembered for his work with the media during his time as Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services in the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) regime.
It is reported that he died of acute abdominal secondary gunshot wounds as a result of a shooting incident which occurred on January 14, 2024, at his residence in Ibex Hill, Lusaka.
MISA Zambia will remember Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha for his open-door policy and willingness to engage with MISA Zambia and the media to promote media freedom and freedom of expression in Zambia.
MISA Zambia wishes to extend its condolences to the family and friends of the late Lieutenant General Shikapwasha and wishes for God’s comfort during this difficult moment.
