Radio Management: A key for radio stations to succeed

20 Jun, 2023
The training was aimed at demonstrating knowledge and skills required for the management of resources used in a radio station

It is common knowledge that to succeed, radio stations need to assess their own environments and operating contexts and incorporate that knowledge into their strategic thinking. This type of factual assessment helps anticipate challenges, uncover opportunities, and set achievable goals.

It is for this reason that MISA Zambia conducted a five-day capacity development in Radio Management from 13th – 17th June 2023 at Radio Mano 89.3FM in Kasama.

The sessions were aimed at demonstrating knowledge and skills required for the management of human, material and other resources used in a radio station and also the generation and management of funds.

Day one was focusing on staff productivity, factors driving management failure and Understanding Personnel expectations from the participants. Other topics under the training included fund raising, attracting listenership, monitoring and controlling funds to meet the needs of a community radio station. The last component included media law and ethics.

The training ended with participants being awarded certificates of participation by MISA Zambia
