PRESS STATEMENT

For Immediate Release

LUSAKA MISA Zambia joins the rest of the world in celebrating the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting (ICBD) under the theme “Our Children, Our Future.”

MISA Zambia firmly believes that every child has an inherent right to express themselves freely. They must be provided platforms where their diverse views, ideas, and opinions can be shared and heard.

We call for broadcasters to establish safe spaces for children to showcase their creativity, share their stories, and discuss issues that directly impact their lives. We extend this call to parents and policymakers, to prioritize the well-being of children. This should go beyond commemorating ICBD and ensure that these spaces are readily available for this age group.

It is our collective duty to ensure that they are well-informed and equipped with the essential skills, core values, and etiquette that will guarantee their success in an ever-changing world.

As we mark this year’s International Children’s Day of Broadcasting, we insist that stakeholders from all sectors unite to create a safe environment both online and offline that respects, empowers, and motivates our children to excel. Together, we must support our children in shaping their future by actively promoting and safeguarding their rights.
