MISA Zambia Mourns IBA Director General, Mr. Guntila Muleya

We stand in solidarity with the IBA and the entire media community in mourning this painful loss

PRESS STATEMENT

For Immediate Release

LUSAKA – MISA Zambia expresses deep sorrow over the untimely death of the Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) Director General, Mr. Guntila Muleya. His passing was confirmed yesterday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Media, Mr. Thabo Kawana.

According to reports from the Zambia Police Service, Mr. Muleya was found dead in Njolwe area of Palabana with two bullet wounds.

Mr. Muleya served as the Director General of the IBA from May 6th, 2024, until the time of his death. Before his tenure at the IBA, he was the General Manager at Multichoice Zambia. MISA Zambia fondly remembers Mr. Muleya for his valuable contributions and unwavering support towards MISA Zambia’s initiatives and the media fraternity.

MISA Zambia strongly condemns the gruesome murder of Mr. Muleya and calls upon all like-minded organizations to unite against such injustices in our country. We urge the government and the Zambia Police Service to prioritize a thorough investigation to bring those responsible for this heinous crime to justice.

We stand in solidarity with the IBA and the entire media community in mourning this painful loss.

MISA Zambia extends its deepest condolences to the family of the late Mr. Muleya, the IBA and the entire media fraternity.
