MISA Zambia was part of the African Media Convention (AMC) which took place from the 11th to the 13th of May 2023. During the convention, it participated in the launch of The State of Press Freedom in Southern Africa Report (2022).

MISA Zambia Chairperson participated in the launch which took place on 11th May 2023. Additionally, the organisation participated in the side event during the AMC sponsored by MISA Regional that took place on 12th May 2023.

The side event was on freedom of expression and the threats around artificial intelligence. The report launched by the MISA Regional Office has shown that although there are positive developments across the Southern African region, meeting the international standards is still work in progress and in some instances, states are regressing.

The final day of the event saw the convention issue a declaration that among others spoke to the need for independent media regulation and the establishment of minimum wages for journalists.
