Choma undergoes advocacy and ATI capacity building

10 May, 2023
The information session was aimed at building stakeholders’ capacity on the Access to Information (ATI) Bill and advocacy strategies they can employ to push for the ATI Law

MISA Zambia was in Choma district in Southern Province where it co-facilitated an information session with Panos Institute Southern Africa (PSAf).

The information session was aimed at building stakeholders’ capacity on the Access to Information (ATI) Bill and advocacy strategies they can employ to push for the ATI Law. This was in addition to Laws that provide for and negatively impact media freedom and the right of access to information in Zambia.

The information session was conducted under the USAID Open Spaces Zambia project funded by USAID and implemented by Internews in partnership with FHI 360. Local partners on the project include MISA Zambia and Panos Institute Southern Africa (PSAf).

The objectives of the project are to strengthen the democratic foundations of freedom of speech and assembly; build independent and new media; and safeguard a space for activists, human rights defenders (HRDs), and oppositional voices to protect the democratic space in Zambia.
