MISA Zambia applauds journalists and other media practitioners across the country on the important work that they are doing amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

MISA Zambia also wishes to appeal to government through the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to ensure that all Journalists are also availed with masks and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that will protect them and avert transmission of the Corona virus as they carry out this important task of keeping citizens informed.

We are aware of the crucial role that the media is playing of information dissemination in its quest to educate the public on measures to put in place in combating Covid-19. They have packaged messages on Covid-19 according the information needs of the local communities to ensure that no information gaps exist.

Journalists just like other front liners put their lives at risk daily in order to disseminate information and keep the nation abreast with the pandemic which helps the citizens to make informed decisions.

Furthermore, MISA Zambia calls upon journalists to continue observing and abiding by all the health guidelines that have been put in place by the authorities in order to ensure their safety when gathering news and other information.
