The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia is saddened with the death of Charles Katongo, a journalist who worked for both the Zambia Daily Mail and Daily Nation newspapers.

Mr Katongo’s passing is a big blow to the media fraternity in Zambia as he was an icon of determination and resilience in media development.

MISA Zambia will remember Mr Katongo for his boundless passion for professionalism and excellence in media practice.

MISA Zambia shall remain committed to the cause of freedom expression and media freedom as we are further inspired by Mr Katongo’s life, service and contribution to the media industry in Zambia.  We therefore, stand with the Zambia Daily Mail, Daily Nation and Mr Katongo’s family in this trying moment as we mourn the veteran journalist. His spirit of media perseverance, novelty and excellence lives on.

Mr Katongo died in the early hours of Tuesday 5th December, 2017, at Levy Mwanawasa General Hospital and will be remembered for his lively contribution to the media industry. MISA Zambia wishes his family and the media God’s comfort during this trying moment.
